Lifetime Decision?

My friends are applying to many companies for the last fews months. Yes, we are graduating and the next stop of our life should be working, wedding, parenting, so on. But I don’t want to work, I want to live and have fun.

I am proudly telling you that I am such a lazy person. What I have done so well in the past was what I had fun or have been challenged with. For me, choosing a job is like choosing your favorite toy! the first problem is I cannot pick one. Because some of them are not avaliable for me, some of them are too pricey, or some of them are just not painted in the color I like. I always have this (kind of) philosophy in every decisions. So, the second problem is I don’t know how far this philosophy will work. It seems like this decision can boost my income, my profile, my life, or in the opposite ways.

My situation is:

  • Both of my parents will be retired by 2016
  • My brother is applying for master degree
  • My sister is studying in high school (at least 5 years away from her bachelor’s)
  • We will have almost no income after 2016, just from a retirement fund, of course

You may see how this kind of situation will be ended. I think I will have to earn some good amount of money but that may be a trade-off with my philosophy. I am searching for a way to have both terms equally, which as you know, I am complaining because I just couldn’t find it.

Startup to small companies are what I desire most. Because they are fun to work, rich in culture, and there are so much opportunity to be grown. But it is insecure and pay not well. My profile may gets stuck and whatever the reason will be to leave the company, I may find it difficult to look for another jobs.

On the other hand, big companies pay well, there are not so many thing to be worried but I might get bored on the way, lost my passion in this area, and I will be trapped as a salaryman.
