Thailand needs a big change

I’ve written this in Facebook but decided not to post it on. Still, feel that it would be a waste of time if I was not posting to somewhere.

ปัญหาของประเทศมันเริ่มต้นจากคนภายในประเทศนั้นแหละ “เรายังเห็นแก่ตัว ชอบความสะดวกสบาย เล่นพวกพ้อง โดยไม่คำนึงถึงความถูกต้อง” เห็นได้จาก ติดสินบนตำรวจ-พนักงานของรัฐ, เส้นเข้าโรงเรียนดัง, โกงข้อสอบ, ระบบอุปถัมภ์ รุ่นพี่-รุ่นน้อง ญาติ คนรู้จัก ฯลฯ สิ่งเหล่านี้ทำให้ข้าราชการประจำข้าราชการการเมืองใช้เป็นจุดขาย ขายคอรับชั่นให้แก่เรา และสุดท้ายก็ตามมาด้วยความไม่เป็นระเบียบวินัยของสังคม ของประเทศ ถ้าจะเปลี่ยนแปลงสังคมไทย ให้เป็นสังคมที่ปราศจากสิ่งเหล่านี้ มันไม่ใช่เพียงการชุมนุม หรือการเลือกตั้ง มันต้องเริ่มที่เราเปลี่ยนตัวเองก่อน พ่อค้าจะขายของได้อย่างไร หากไม่มีผู้ซื้อ? ปฏิเสธสิ่งที่ไม่ถูกต้อง ทำในสิ่งที่ถูกต้อง และทำตามหน้าที่ให้ดีในบริบทต่างๆ แล้วก็หวังว่าสักวัน เราจะเป็นจิ๊กซอว์เล็กๆ ในการเปลี่ยนแปลงค่านิยมของสังคมนี้ และเปลี่ยนแปลงประเทศนี้

ผมรักประเทศนี้ และผมอยากอยู่ในประเทศนี้ แต่ผมห่วงว่าสังคมนี้มันเหมาะสมกับลูกกับหลานของผมจริงๆหรือ?

All the problems of Thailand come from people. “People who addict to their comfort, to their unlimited selfishness, to their factiousness with any right-wrong concerns” We can see those problems wide spread Thai society through: police ticket-fixing, school payment systems, cheating on exams, patronage system in senior-junior, relatives, etc. Those things make government officers and politicians understand how corrupted people we are and use us as a tool to their corruptions. If we all want to change Thai society, to wipe all those corruptions, it would not only march around the city, it would not just have an election. It has to be started by changing ourselves. Change to do the right things and refuse to do wrong. Then hope. Hope that someday, we will be a little piece of jigsaws to the change of this society, and this country.

I love this country and I want to live here, but I’m worried about this society. Is it worth enough for my children and grandchildren to live here?
