Wisdom Teeth Surgery Experience (1)
Hello everyone
Yesterday I’ve an appointment with a dentist to remove my wisdom teeth. So, I would like to blog you those stuffs while it’s a fresh memory!
I’m a Mahidol University student, so I used my privilege to get this surgery almost for free. I made an appointment at Mahidol’s Golden Jubilee Medical Center, which is just next to Salaya Campus, around last month.
The processes started by lying down in a dental chair. My x-ray film was on at the computer monitor. I got a piece of clothes to protect from blood and from me getting scared (I guess). The doctor was coming in and asked me if remove all four of them is okay. I asked him back, “what it will be?”. He answered, “well, it will be painful at all four corners”. Huh? Four of them, I would not be able to eat solid food at any sides of my mouth, but I can just do it once. I accepted that.
I didn’t get any photos about my x-ray, but two of them were lying cross other teeth in the lower gum. And another two were in the upper gum, one of them showed out. The doctor started to give me many of anesthetic needles. I might miss to count those but it should be around 5 to 10. The most painful needle was at my palate. The doctor checked me by asking if my lower lip was numb or not. When it was numb, he started doing something in very loud noise but painless.
The surgery was done using 40 mins. Only one torment I felt in the surgery is the doctor kept telling me I shouldn’t swallow any bit of some liquid in my mouth. The doctor told me my best tip of the day, using my nose to breathe not mouth. I rested at the chair, then I went on to collect some medicines. I felt numb in every parts in my month and surrounds. I was given five medicines:
- Paracetamol 500 mg - painkiller for an acceptable pain
- Tramadol HCl 50 mg - painkiller for an unacceptable pain
- Amoxycillin 500 mg
- Dexamethasone 0.5 mg
- Omeprazole 20 mg - using before DexamethasoneSeveral hours later I still felt numb around my mouth. I started using cool gel on the both sides of my mouth. After that, I took one tablet of Tramadol, got gauze out because bleeding almost stopped, and got a nap. I got up to eat some congee with a drinking tube and continue using Paracetamols til night. This morning was not bad at all. The pain still there but not much, stop using Paracetamol and can eat some soft steam egg. I will continue this story. I hope this would encourage somebody who afraid of this kind of surgery. See ya!PS.Til now I really miss eating! T^T”
